DEADLINE:  August 26, 2010

Specific Qualifications:

*Has the appropriate training, academic, assessment, technological and experiential background for the position (be able to obtain or currently hold a Colorado teaching license.)

*Has earned 24 college credits in ASL and/or teaching ASL

*Can show fluency in ASL

*Has ability to teach first and second levels of American Sign Language

*Familiar with “Master ASL” curriculum and new state standards for ASL

*Has ability to teach students about Deaf culture

General Qualifications

*Ability to build rapport with teenagers while maintaining a focused learning environment

*Ability to teach within a multi-age and inclusive classroom

*Ability to create a safe, interactive learning environment

Hearing Loss Segment on TODAY Show

Suzanne D'Amico, a member of the Manhattan Chapter of Hearing Loss Association of America, appeared in the hearing loss segment which was aired August 31, 2010 on NBC's The TODAY Show.  In fact, you can see the whole D'Amico family on the tape if you click the link below.  Anna Bella, Suzanne's 8-year old daughter who wears hearing aids, steals the show.

2. Transport passenger utilizing a wheelchair safely to/from airplane

4. Comply with all safety and security regulations

5. Provide all passengers and airline representatives with excellent customer service

6. Other duties as maybe assigned by supervisor/manager

Physical Requirement:

1. Ability to bend/stoop/twist

2. Ability to assist passenger in/out of electric wheelchair

3. Lift at 50 lbs

4. Ability to push passenger in wheelchair

5. Ability to walk/stand for 6 to 8 hours

6. Normal eyesight or 20/20 with correction

7. Normal hearing

Qualifications:

1. Ability to assist customers physically and to resolve customer issues

2. Ability to speak, read and write English fluently

THE CONFLICT CENTER NEEDS CERTIFIED SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER

We are a nonprofit dedicated to reduce levels of violence in society.  Right now we are giving a course of Emotional Intelligence and Critical Decision Making to youth living in low-income transitional housing and we have one hearing impaired participant.  We want to be more inclusive and provide sign language interpretation.  The class is 1 ½ hours a week for 5 more weeks and we can pay $50 a class + some money per mile for transportation.
